Have you ever sat in a morning meeting feeling your energy depleted? We’ve all been there. While a good night’s rest is crucial, a healthy morning meal can truly make a difference in how you feel and perform throughout the day.
In my quest for sustained energy, I’ve found that varying my breakfast keeps things exciting and nutritionally balanced. My morning meals range from homemade pancakes and eggs to smoothies, and occasionally, protein-packed and fats-rich combinations featuring yogurt, eggs, and avocado.
The key focus for me is to ensure that I get a balanced intake of healthy fats, proteins, and essential nutrients. This approach not only keeps me satiated but also energized and ready to tackle the day ahead. By switching up my breakfast daily, I avoid monotony and enjoy a variety of flavors and health benefits.
While many people may think, “Who has time to make a meal?” I say, we all have the same amount of time in the day. The question is more, “What is your priority?” Mine is to help my body thrive, so I get to bed earlier to get up earlier to replenish my body.
Today, I’d like to share one of my go-to breakfasts: a nutrient-packed green smoothie paired with two soft-boiled eggs. This combination is perfect for those busy mornings when you need a quick yet satisfying meal.

1 cup spinach or kale
1 green apple, cored and chopped
1 banana
1 tablespoon flax seeds
1 cup almond milk (or your preferred milk)
Optional: 1/2 avocado for extra healthy fats
Directions
- In a blender, combine the spinach or kale, green apple, banana, flax seeds, and almond milk.
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
- If using, add the avocado and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy alongside your two soft-boiled eggs!
Notes
- Adding avocado to your smoothie indeed changes the total calorie count, bringing it closer to the higher end of the 400-600 calorie range. This is a great strategy for those who prefer to consume more of their daily calories earlier in the day. Here’s why this approach can be beneficial:
Energy Boost: Consuming more calories in the morning can provide sustained energy throughout the day, helping you stay focused and productive.
Metabolism: Eating a hearty breakfast can kickstart your metabolism, potentially aiding in better digestion and energy utilization.
Balanced Nutrition: A nutrient-rich breakfast with healthy fats, like those from avocado, supports brain function and overall wellness.
Appetite Control: A substantial breakfast can help control hunger and reduce the likelihood of overeating later in the day.
Personal Preference: If you find that a heavier breakfast and lighter dinner align with your lifestyle and energy needs, it’s a great way to ensure you’re fueling your body when it needs it most.
